Tracks & Trails for walkers, cyclists and history buffs.


There are a number of walking/cycling  tracks and trails throughout Moyne Shire, some are quite long and can take a few hours to complete while others are short walks taking around an hour. Here are a few you might like to try.

Port Fairy to Koroit to Warrnambool Rail Trail.
This cyling or walking track can be broken into segments, Port Fairy to Koroit, Koroit to Warrnambool or Koroit to Port Fairy.   The total length is 37.7km.

Historic Walks
The larger towns in Moyne Shire have a walk specifically designed to highlight the historic featues and buildings of the town.  Maps for the following walks can be obtained from the Port Fairy & Region Visitor Information Centre

Coastal Walks
The Mahogany Ship Walk, this 22km walk along the beaches and dune systems of Port Fairy, Killarney and Warrnambool usually takes around 6 hours for a regular walker to complete.
Yambuk Lake walk, this a sand track along the lake bank until it meets a boardwalk with great sea and coastal views.
Peterborough Walking Track, starting at the southern end of the Bay of Martyrs carpark, this short but spectacular walk leads to the site where the "Falls of Halladale" ran aground in 1908.

 

Walks in National Parks/Reserves
Additionally there are several walks through Tower Hill Reserve (near Koroit) and Mt Eccles National Park (near Macarthur)
