Moyne Shire will celebrate the inaugural Victoria Tourism Week this September with some unique tours of the region's explosive volcanic history.
Tours of two of Moyne Shire's amazing volcanic sites are planned during the week, which starts on September 6 and runs through until September 11. Two rare public openings are planned for the Port Fairy Lighthouse on Griffith Island in the coming months. While Griffith Island is open to the public and visitors can walk up to and around the lighthouse, there are no formal tours or entry into the historic bluestone building.

Recent volcanic activity in the Northern Hemisphere has sparked new interest in Australia’s own volcanic history, with visitors to the Kanawinka Geopark taking advantage of these unique and ancient landscapes.
