Port Fairy to feature in Japanese program

Port Fairy will feature in an international travel show when a Japanese film crew records in the seaside village this Friday.

Japanese travel program Oceania Waterscape will feature Port Fairy as part of an episode showcasing coastal sceneries and attractions between Sydney and Victoria.

Moyne Shire Council Tourism Marketing Coordinator Tanya Waterson said the program was titled “Oceania Waterscape – travelling from Sydney to Melbourne” and would include a segment on Port Fairy.

“It is fantastic that Orange Films has chosen to incorporate Port Fairy in a program that showcases our wonderful nation,” Mrs Waterson said.

“International visits to Australia and Victoria are obviously substantial, but encouraging these tourists to disperse to the regional areas is where the challenge lies.

“This program is an ideal way to showcase what Port Fairy has to offer within the context of our state’s capital – the location many international visitors choose to stay – and encourage these visitors to travel to the south-west and spend some time here.”

The two-hour program is an educational travel show being broadcast on NTV BS (Broadcasting Satellite Channel) throughout Japan. It focuses on towns and cities connected with rivers, lakes, or the ocean and will feature both popular tourist spots and other areas of Australia which are less known.

The program is being produced by Yomiuri Eizou Co. Ltd, Tokyo Japan, with Orange Films – based in New South Wales – coordinating the filming.
