Massive bluefin tuna being caught off Port Fairy
Port Fairy's phenomenal bluefin tuna haul is continuing, with schools of the fish remarkably close to shore.
Huge fish, many weighing more than 140 kilos, have been caught over the past week, with a southern bluefin tuna weighing an incredible 156.4kg caught on Saturday.
The 156.4kg catch has set a new record for Victoria, and is also bigger than any southern bluefin tuna caught in South Australia or Tasmania.
Fishermen from across Victoria and interstate are converging on Port Fairy in an effort to also catch a big one.
The fish are feeding much closer to shore than usual, in waters typically much more shallow than usual.
