Hot week in cool town

It's a hot hot week in Port Fairy and across the Moyne Shire this week, with so many events our calendar is bursting at the seams.

The entire state celebrates the inaugural Victoria Tourism Week, which is designed to show the value that tourism brings to small communities like Port Fairy. There are some great events on in the area this week, so make sure you get out and explore. Especially take advantage of the special guided tours of our two volcanic sites at Mt Eccles and Tower Hill.

The Lighthouse on Griffith Island will be open on Saturday. It's very rare that visitors to the island get the chance to see inside this amazing historic building. It's open from 2pm to 4pm for a gold coin donation.

It's been a wet and wild few weeks, but forecasts predict some clear weather midweek. A great opportunity to get down to the beach for a brisk stroll and to see what's been washed up. Perhaps the mysterious Mahogany Ship will emerge from the dunes this year? The Hopkins Falls are bursting with water and make a magnificent display crashing onto the rocks - well worth a visit.

And, if the girls are looking for action on Friday night, get down to St Patricks Hall on William Street from 7.30pm for a glass of bubbly and a vintage handbag auction.
