The 21st Annual Exhibition Australia Children's Picture Book Illustrations Annual Exhibition Australia Children's Picture Book Illustrationsopens today (Friday 17th September) at the Customs House Gallery's temporary home at Blarney Books and Art in Port Fairy.

The exhibition runs until October 18 and features Rebecca Cool, with illustrations from her book Isabella's Garden written by Glenda Millard, and Bruce Whatley, with illustrations from his book Queen Victoria's Underpant's written by Jackie French.

Customs House Gallery spokesman Des Bunyon says the exhibition also features illustrations from the multi award winning artist/illustrator Shaun Tan from his books The Arrival , The Red Tree, and Tales from Outer Suburbia . There will also be illustrations by Robert Ingpen and others.

"We have held this exhibition annually for the past twenty years in our former business premises at the Customs House in Warrnambool. However since the South West Institute of Tafe reclaimed the building at the end of August this year we are currently without a new venue and were kindly offered the gallery space at Blarney Books and Art in Port Fairy by Dean and Jo Canham to continue our annual show," said Mr Bunyon.

"Over the years we have exhibited the illustrations of most of Australia's recognised illustrators and it has always been a popular and eagerly anticipated exhibition."
