Blarney Books has announced that Melbourne-based illustrator Nicki Greenberg will be the guest judge for the 2011 Biblio-Art Awards this year.
Ms Greenberg is an artist who specialises in sequential art narrative, or comic strip style art. Her first series of books, The Digits, where published when she was just fifteen years old and have sold over 380,000 copies. Her most inspired works are the interpretations of The Great Gatsby and Shakespeare's Hamlet in comic art form.
Her latest projects include children's book Monkey Red, Monkey Blue, published by Allen and Unwin in December 2010.
The annual Biblio-Art competition invites artists to submit works that are inspired by literature. Each year the Port Fairy-based bookstore supplies entrants with a selection of books from which to take inspiration. The $10 entry fee includes a copy of the artists book of choice.
Competition entries close on April 29, with winners announced and the opening of an exhibition of finalists work at Blarney Books on June 11.
