Unique tour of Moyne wind farms
A tour of Victoria's first operation wind farm in south west Victoria is a unique way to learn first hand about renewable energy production.
Codrington Wind Farm, 20 minutes west of Port Fairy, has 14 towers and was built in 2001. At the time it was the first and largest wind farm in Victoria. Tours also include the Yambuk Wind Farm, which has 20 towers, and was built in 2005.
Educational tours are available to pre-booked large groups, schools and coach tours. The tours last approximately one hour and take visitors to the base of a wind tower. On the way, a professional commentary provides information about the history of the farm (which has been in the same family since 1856), and the development of wind power, as well as technical information about the turbines.
