The BordererS to headline Koroit Irish Festival

the borderers play koroit irish festival 2011One of Australia's leading Celtic bands, The BordererS, will headline at this years Koroit Irish Festival.

The annual festival runs from April 29 to May 1st, celebrating Koroit's Irish heritage with a weekend of music and dancing, a float parade, spud picking and peeling competitions and a traditional Irish House Party.

The Adelaide band last appeared at the festival in 2007 and make a welcome return in 2011, bringing their energetic and highly entertaining show to town. They will play three shows during the Saturday of the festival, heading up a great line up of local and visiting talent.

The BordererS lead singer, Alex, was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and came to Australia in 1987, whilst Jim was born in Glasgow, Scotland and arrived in Australia on Christmas Eve 1993. They became a band by accident when Jim was backpacking in Australia in 1993 as part of a round the world trip.

He says: "I was just passing through Adelaide to meet a friend when I got invited to a recording studio to hear this band called the BordererS. I loved their sound so much that I eventually co-produced the album, married the lead singer and bought a house in Adelaide".

Energetic and passionate are the words most often used to describe the BordererS stage show and they also have a very unique talent of appealing to all age groups ( From 3 to 103 ). Everyone who witnesses their family concerts leaves the venue thoroughly entertained and with a smile on their face.

The BordererS have been voted the most popular act ( by the public ) every time they've performed at the Port Fairy Folk Festival and they're constantly invited back to all the major festivals in Australia and Europe because of the guaranteed good times they generate.
