ian reidPerth-based author Ian Reid will launch his new novel, The End of Longing, at this weekend's Port Fairy Literary Weekend.

DLS Literary Society spokesman Brian Edwards says they are delighted to welcome Ian back to Victoria and to celebrate his new novel.

Published by UWA Publishing the book follows the story of Frances, a young New Zealand woman, who is laid to rest in an unmarked grave in Jamaica in 1894. Her enigmatic husband, the Rev. William Hammond, cannot be found. Reports are later sent to her brothers with allegations of cunning, fraud and, perhaps, murder.

Ian Reid is a widely-published writer of literary theory and criticism, poetry and now fiction, and his work has been translated into many languages. He was awarded the inaugural Antipodes prize in the US for poetry and his critical studies include Fiction and the Great Depression in Australia and New Zealand, Narrative Exchanges and Wordsworth and the Formation of English Studies.
