24/12-26/1: Moyneyana Festival, Port Fairy
The truly remarkable annual Moyneyana Festival is held in Port Fairy each summer season and manages to skilfully combine a range of events for all ages. Often utilising the town’s spectacular natural attractions, the festival begins Christmas Eve with a free barbeque, visit from Santa and Christmas Carol sing-along. New Year’s Eve features a major event on the social calendar, with the Moyneyana Parade getting back to good old-fashioned family entertainment, with a float parade, live music and spectacular fireworks display. Running until Australia Day, the daily program features a variety of activities - many of them free - including the popular New Year’s Day duck derby on the river, free kite flying and much, much more.
